It looks like there is a new challenger to the Veyron’s throne as the fastest production car in the world. American firm Shelby Super Cars which, by the way, is not related to Carroll Shelby is aiming to break the speed record set by the Veyron with the Ultimate Aero TT. As can be expected, if you set a speed record, you have to expect that the competition will be gunning for that record.
If you are looking for a great looking car, then the Bugatti Veyron and the Ultimate Aero TT will not disappoint you. Not only these cars look good but they also pack a mean punch under their hood or wherever they stow their engines.
The Ultimate Aero TT, according to its manufacturer, has these specifications regarding the ultra-fast Ultimate Aero. I found these at the manufacturer’s site and I just chose some to let you have a sample of what this American supercar has in store for the Veyron.

Anyway, the manufacturer of this supercar reported that while testing the car in Nevada, they were able to note 388 kilometers per hour. While it is still far from Veyron’s 407 miles per hour land speed record, SSC pointed out that the throttle of the Ultimate Aero was set to only 71 percent. After clocking that time in, a freak snowstorm prevented the team from testing the Aero.
While apparently disappointed with Mother Nature’s apparent intervention on the behalf of the Veyron, SSC’s marketing director Junus Khan is still confident that the Ultimate Aero can dethrone the reigning and defending fastest production car, the Bugatti Veyron.
Aside from the Ultimate Aero, it seems that the woodworks are crawling with cars looking to unseat the Veyron. The Melling Hellcat, a supercar designed by engine expert Al Melling is also looking to break the Veyron’s record. The Bristol Fighter T is also a car looking for its spot in the record books and its aiming for the Veyron’s record.
